Aljoša TAVČAR

 

Born in 1971 in Trieste, Italy, he attended the Trieste State Conservatory of Music “Giuseppe Tartini”, where he studied bassoon with Vojko Cesar, and Music School Glasbena Matica “Marij Kogoj”, where he studied piano with Aleksander Rojc and composition with the Slovenian composer Aldo Kumar.

He performs in freelance orchestras and various chamber music groups.

His experience includes the symphonic orchestras “Cittŕ di Trieste”, “Cittŕ di Monfalcone”, “Cittŕ di Portogruaro”, Musikfreunde Braunau-Simbach, Nuova orchestra “Ferruccio Busoni”, I Cameristi Triestini, Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra Ars Atelier, Symphonic Orchestra Glasbena Matica-SCVG Emil Komel. He has also played in various wind orchestras including the Concert Band “Cittŕ di Gorizia”, Trieste Concert Band “Giuseppe Verdi”, Prosek Wind Band and Kraška pihalna godba Sežana, Slovenia. Since 1999 he has been a member of the Opera Giocosa del Friuli-Venezia Giulia orchestra.

He has performed and recorded many of the Mozart operas (Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Cosě fan tutte, Il ratto dal serraglio, Die Zauberflöte), as well as the operas Pia de’ Tolomei by Donizetti, Signor Bruschino by Rossini, Il sasso pagano by Giulio Viozzi and Da Capo by Gaetano Giani Luporini, presented at the International Opera Barga Festival, Italy, in summer 2008. With the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestra Ars Atelier conducted by Hilarij Lavrenčič he performed and recorded the operettas Kovačev študent by Vinko Vodopivec (2004) and Die Gräfin Maritza by Emmerich Kálmán (2009).

He has also performed the most important masterpieces of the sacred repertoire (including Mozart's Coronation Mass and Requiem, Händel's Messiah and Puccini's Messa di Gloria) and the symphonic literature (Beethoven and Mozart symphonies, Mozart, Schumann and Grieg piano concertos, etc.). He has played in many of the most important music venues in his area, including the Opera Theatre “Giuseppe Verdi”, Tripcovich Music Hall, “Kulturni dom” in Trieste, Cultural Center “Lojze Bratuž” and “Kulturni dom” in Gorizia, Town Theatre in Monfalcone, Slovenian Philharmonic Hall (Slovenska filharmonija) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. His performances include also radio & television broadcasts and recordings.

He has recorded for the RAI Radio Televisione Italiana, RTV Slovenija, TV Koper/Capodistria, Pop TV, TV Primorka and the internet TV station Luxa TV. He also collaborated for many years with the Trieste State Conservatory Orchestra and Wind Chamber Ensemble as bassoon player, and with Glasbena Matica “Marij Kogoj” as pianist.
